He reasoned that if he found their history exciting and novel, other non-Texans, including New York editors, would have the same reaction. Having already written two nonfiction books, he decided to make the Comanches the subject of his third. Gwynne) Gwynne's research convinced him there hadn't been a significant book about the Comanches since Fehrenbach's 1974 history. "e This happened to me a lot."e (Interview with author S.C. After moving to Texas in the 1990s, Gwynne discovered that the Lone Star State still remembered the Indian Wars."e A woman might tell me that her great-grandparents were both killed by Comanches,"e Gwynne told the Historynet website. Fehrenbach's Comanche: The Destruction of a People. Intrigued, he began reading more books about the tribe, such as T.R. ![]() ![]() Webb mentioned in one chapter that the Comanche tribes had been a barrier to white settlement, something Gwynne, a northerner, had never heard of. Kimi ni todoke from me to you vol 47/6/2023 ![]() She threatens to break down the steadily growing relationship between Kazehaya and Sawako by pinching at insecurities Kazehaya has and causing Sawako to question the true meaning of her feelings. ![]() Having said that, Kurumi does become the iceberg in the way of the ship. It was enjoyable to see Kurumi not afraid to speak her mind to Sawako whether it destroyed her image of 'kind and beautiful' and equally enjoyable to see Sawako react in a measured, accepting and understanding manner of this "new" side to Kurumi. Kurumi schemes and creates convoluted plans to keep girls out of Kazehaya's way and her latest victim is our much loved protagonist, Sawako. ![]() ![]() So volume 4 gives readers a more blatant insight into Ume Kurumizawa aka Kurumi's true colours. Please do not read this review if you have not the previous volumes of Kimi Ni TodokeĮdit: I guess I should mention that this volume lost a star because it was little slower than the first 3 (personal preference really). ![]()

The Marshall Plan by Benn Steil7/5/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() This was the first time I had experienced the classical dilemma, so eloquently described by Edmund Burke, that is faced at one time or another by almost any elected official in a democracy: how much should his voters register his constituents’ opinions, and how much should they represent his own views and convictions? After what I had seen in and learned in Europe, I believed so strongly in the necessity of extending economic aid that I felt I had no choice but to vote my conscience and then try my hardest to convince my constituents.” “I had taken a poll and found that 75 percent of my constituents in the 12th district were resolutely opposed to any foreign aid. “I learned a great deal from the Herter Committee trip,” Nixon later recalled. On July 30, 1947, then Congressman Nixon was selected by Speaker of the House Joe Martin to to be one of the nineteen members of a select committee headed by Congressman Christian Herter to make a trip to Europe and prepare a report in connection with the post -war foreign aid plan that Secretary of State George Marshall unveiled at Harvard University in June of that year. Benn Steil is author of “The Marshall Plan: Dawn of the Cold War” ![]()

![]() ![]() Also known as maize, corn is one of the most significant cereals in human history. ![]() To understand how to choose the right corn and the best way to store it, it’s important to know a bit about corn. Should fresh, local corn need to be treated any differently from corn grown thousands of miles away? And the true challenge: How do you know if the corn is actually fresh and sweet under that beautiful leafy husk without shucking it right there in the store? What is corn, and where did it come from? Plus, I can almost always find those shrink-wrapped styrofoam trays of shucked and trimmed corn. Corn season may be creeping up on us once again, but I’ve been able to find corn in the husk in my local supermarket chains for about a month now. What I found out, however, is that it’s not so simple. ![]()

Arcane ascension series7/5/2023 ![]() ![]() We do not know how long it took to establish the Tower and Attunement System, plus we do not know what they choose as the starting point in the new calender. So a reasonable guess is over 400 years between the Broken Mirrors Books and the Arcane Ascension Books. There may have already been human Nations and/or Cities there when they arrived. Once they got there, they established and/or modified things already there, to produce the Towers, Visages, and the Attunement System for Magic. Plus put that together with the dream sequence of Corin in Book 1, and it could be argued That Selys and others fled events still to come in Book 3 of Broken Mirrors (Defying Destiny), and retreated to another continent and somehow kept the Golden Tyrant from following them. The most obvious (but not necessarily correct) answer is that it is year 412 when the 1st year students are at their graduation ball/ceremony at the end of Book 2. ![]() The question of relative timing is in a delibrate haze by the author. ![]() |
